Jam away the blues!

Hello everyone!  Whenever I feel like I lose my spunk I make a play-list with explosive songs that rev me up and then I have my own personal dance party to restore my mojo.  A few of mine are “Holding on for a Hero”, “Then He Kissed Me” by the Crystals, ABBA’s “Take a Chance on Me”, and “Take Me for What I Am” from Rent.  I think I have a play list for almost every mood I want to be in.  That’s the way I roll or groove rather. It seems like such an easy way to make your day just a little bit better but it is seriously amazing how much of what we hear affects how we think, how we feel, and how go about doing things. So take that with you and consider jamming out in your car on your way to work instead of listening to the news or listening to relaxing waves or exotic Indian music when you get home to calm you down and center yourself.  See the difference it makes.  And don’t forget ABBA when it’s time to get down with your sexy self!

Breathe your way to serenity!

What a tense day.  It’s days like these I like to pay attention to how I breathe.  With a million thoughts running through my mind about yesterday, today, and tomorrow, it is no wonder I get so worked up and stressed out.  We all do.  I know I have a tendency to breath very shallow, which makes my anxiety go kiddywampus and mood be hyper-active.  I always try to make time for breathing. I know it sounds silly because it is something we naturally do, but when you make the conscious effort to sit down, breathe in for counts of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; then let it out 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, you feel so much better and more equipped to take on the world, in the now, not focusing on the future or the past but this moment.  It never fails to ground me even if it takes a few or several breathes instead of just one.. So deep breathe away… Oh and if you’re around a crowd, grab a tic-tac!  Breathe deeply and find your Zen. Smile
